Perhaps you should consult one of the admins and tell them you wish to start a thread with pics of amputees at the VA hospital but are unsure how to proceed.

On a related note, here's some social skill info for you that will help you in your everyday life -- if you're not interested in an ongoing discussion, it's much more proper to just move on rather than telling the participants their topic is stupid and you wish to pursue another one. You'll get invited out more often that way.
