The President Just came over my house!
The neighbors were so excited!

I heard this huge helicopter sound, louder than any helicopter that ever came over the house.

I live in Los Angeles about 4 miles from LAX.

I ran to grab my 91 years young Mom because I didn't know what was happening.

Then I opened the front door and the neighbors across the street were taking photos and jumping up and down and waving to the sky.

They were snapping photos and their children were jumping up and down and waving to ~ the President of the United States!

I just talked to my cousin and he said all the neighbors on his street were out and waving too.

8. What street were you on?
It was just thrilling -- my only problem was the sound of that helicopter.

It was booming and sounded like it was going to crash right into my yard.

We have lived in this house for many years and never have I heard a sound like that one.

But that's OK with me ~ :bounce:

I can't wait until the neighbor gives me the pictures.

I'll try to post them on DU.

7. "They were snapping photos"

Oh boy, good thing you aren't in Iraq.

"Hey, it's the president's helicopter! Let's go outside and point things at it!"

10. President Nixon flew to my town (Xenia, OH) in 1974 after the big tornado,
and he had declared a disaster. His helicopter entourage flew RIGHT OVER OUR HOUSE, and even though it was Nixon, we were all excited.

11. So you can just imagine how it felt to know that President Obama
could have had them land his helicopter in my back yard.
Literally -- he was directly over my yard !

I love my President!

I tell you my house was shaking like a giant earthquake from the sky.

He was speaking near USC so that is about 3 miles from my house.

Neighborhood called View Park. It's absolutely beautiful here.

Thanks for reminding me about what also made it extra special -- it was as if he was saying to his Brothers and Sisters... "Here I am, you may not have the $27,000 to see me tonight but I'm visiting you now!"

I was laughing with a friend on the phone a few minutes ago, I told him.....

"Barack was making all that noise to make sure that I knew that he was directly over my yard so I could come out and see him!"

He just kept making so much noise I had to go and find out what was happening! LOL

24. I grew up in View Park
my family moved in back in 1958, when it was a predominantly white neighborhood, and my dad lived there until they carted him out in 2004.

It is a nice neighborhood. When the Olympics were there, you could stand on the corner and see the fireworks from the Colisseum six miles away.

25. We were one of the first African American families in View Park
in 1960.

Lots of entertainers lived here, some still do.
In those days, and even now it is extra special.

When I was a teenager, some of us were playing around and walking down the street. We stopped in our tracks and could not believe our eyes -- Ray Charles was DRIVING his car down Valleyridge! I am not telling a LIE, his driver was beside him but Ray Charles was behind the wheel!

I think my best friend, the singer Marilyn McCoo, was with me that day ~ we had so much fun growing up in View Park!

It is a neighborhood rich in memories.

PM me if you can

:)

I happened to see Bush's limo pass once a few years ago here in New York...happy to say I gave him a very nice one-finger salute.
