Emanuel Sets Sights on Next Job

Confirming rumors, White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel said that he wants to be the mayor of Chicago, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Said Emanuel: "I hope Mayor Daley seeks reelection. I will work and support him if he seeks reelection. But if Mayor Daley doesn't, one day I would like to run for mayor of the city of Chicago. That's always been an aspiration of mine even when I was in the House of Representatives."

Emanuel has long been rumored to want the job of Speaker of the House, but he said in the interview that hope was "over."

6. Can't be any worse than Daley who privatized an Interstate and public street parking.

Could Rahm actually top Daley for extreme Right shitism?

If pressed to say something good about Daley, I guess I would have to say that he must really piss off Republicans getting to do things farther Right than the Republicans have even proposed. I mean, he privatized parking ON PUBLIC STREETS! Seriously.

But pissing off Republicans is a good thing. Right?

4. Technically, he still can be Speaker of the House...
if he really wants to. Nothing requires that the Speaker of the House actually be a current member of the House of Representatives.

But yes, I think that Mayor of Chicago is a more likely spot for him than Speaker of the House.

5. Run, Rahm, Run
Get your butt out of D.C. where you have done enough damage. Because of you, we have no public option, no medicare buy-in, blah, blah, blah. You are useless.

9. A lot to do about nothing.
Rham is a distraction, and he's done a decent job far as I can see.
No, Michael Moore didn't get the job of Chief of Staff, but still,
the hatred directed against Rahm is ridiculous and not really justified, IMO.

...for better or for worse.

No one needs to find a new bogeyman- you either agree with The President's choices & actions or you do not.

13. What does Michael Moore have to do with it?
Oh- I get it- anyone who doesnt like Rahm is "far left" and probably even wanted Rev. Wright to be Chief of Staff. LOL! Good one. Never heard that implication before.

But seriously-I have not posted on DU in 5 months and this "far left pony" stuff is still here. LOL!
