Poll: On economy, Americans trust Obama over Dems, GOP
By Eric Zimmermann - 04/19/10 11:21 AM ET

Americans trust President Obama to handle the economy more than either Democrats or Republicans in Congress, according to a new Gallup poll.

Fifty-four percent of respondents said they trust Obama either a "great deal" (25%) or a "fair amount" (29%) on economic matters. Forty-three percent said the same of Democrats (10% "great deal," 33% "fair amount") and Republicans (6% "great deal," 37% "fair amount").

Obama's 54% mark leaves him tied with "business leaders," though more respondents said they trust Obama a "great deal."

1. I can't believe that 54% of Americans have a great deal to fair amount
of confidence that Business Leaders will recommend the right thing for the economy.

It was Business leaders, like CEOs at banks, that got us into this mess.

And Union leaders only have a 38% confidence level.

America has NOT learned anything.

2. I find that hard to believe also.
Although if it was true, it would be pretty funny.

3. This has to be devastating to the GOP after more than a year of relentless non-stop attacks..
from all corners, the majority of American people still trust the President. Gives me hope.

4. I been thinking about this.
There is a meme, if you go against certain status quo ideas, then most of the population will not support you.

Even though most of the population supports those ideas. If you ask them the actual questions, most of them support progressive ideas.

So why does this happen? Because if you go Nader, then many people that write articles keep you out of the public view.

The idea is to make the progressive ideas seem like they are not liked, so people will not support them, or advocate them.

If you say something enough people believe it, and moving the country to the right, has been one repeated message that they country is to the right. And saying things like unions are bad.

The bigger the corporations are, the more consolidation, and corruption there will be, because it is easier to be corrupt if you only have to cut a back room deal with a few other competitors.

I suspect even the tea baggers are not on the right as far as support for big monopolies, but I doubt that gets reported much. I would guess the tea baggers think the Democrats are in bed with monopoly elite, and the progressives think the Republicans are in bed with the monopoly elite.

Some in both party are, but I don't think they are equal.

5. To the average American
"business leader" probably means the manager at McDonald's. I would like to have seen "bankers" added to the list.
