Barack Obama dips into 4th District race, hands Hank Johnson an endorsement
The ever-courteous Hank Johnson has given those Democrats who want his DeKalb County seat in Congress a long weekend to think things over, plus this press release:

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama announced Thursday his endorsement of Congressman Hank Johnson, who represents Georgia’s Fourth Congressional District.

“Congressman Johnson has done an outstanding job,” said President Obama. “Together, we are fighting to renew our economy. Together, we passed historic health care reform. I am proud to stand with Hank and support his re-election.”

Qualifying begins on Monday.

Obama’s endorsement is, in fact, a license to print photos of Johnson and the president – real ones, no digital retouching necessary — in whatever fashion that pleases the congressman.

2. it was Guam but he is a lot better than vernon.
During a House Armed Services Committee hearing in March 2010 concerning the U.S. military installation on the island of Guam, Johnson said to Admiral Robert F. Willard, Commander of U.S. Pacific Command, "My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize," to which Admiral Willard replied, "We don't anticipate that."<20><21> Johnson later claimed that it was a metaphor.<22> The video of Johnson's comments has since become an internet sensation.<23>

Vernon Jones considers himself to be a conservative Democrat supporting limited government, fiscal responsibility, and a strong, active military. Jones has been critical of the National Democratic Party for being too liberal, and says he is more in touch with most Georgians than either major party. Ontheissues.org considers Jones a "Moderate Libertarian Conservative."
