I noticed a few Cubs fans are getting more pissed. Those people take baseball very seriously. He should probably leave Cubs fans alone. Especially until after the election.

I just saw what he said on Morning Joe. Joe made the point that someone who throws like a girl shouldn't talk. I actually agree. Obama shouldn't make jokes about baseball for a while. :dilemma:

4. Mayor Daley does it just a bit, too.
Chicagoans get it. Cub fans bash the Sox day and night. Sox fans bash the Cubs. It's a very Chicago thing to poke fun.

I was recently introduced to a new coworker. They said, "This is Ruben." I replied, "I'm sorry!" He smiled. We're a town full of wiseguys.

5. Oh, hell ...

I've been a Cubs fan as long as I've known what baseball is, and the first thing you learn about being a Cubs fan is that people are going to pick on the Cubs. You either learn to take it, or go hide in a hole somewhere the entire season.

I get your point, sorta, but there are really more important things to worry about. Personally, as a sports fan, I'd lose respect for him, as a sports fan, if he stopped.

9. You forget there are two teams in Chicago...
North siders cheer for Cubbies,
South siders are Sox fans, and they bash one another constantly.
But if someone else does the bashing they leap in for one another.

As a native south sider, I'm with Obama: stick with your team..
unless someone else is gunning for the north siders..

But throw like a girl? Hey, he's a basketball freak,
not a pitcher.

13. The Cubs are the northside yuppie squad team
The White Sox are the team of the working-class south side. Besides, bashing the Cubs gains him more support amongst Cardinal fans.

14. Oh please...
If you're a die hard baseball fan (especially a Cubbie) you get the joke. Apparently Joe didn't see the SNL skit with Bill Murray asking Barack about the Cubs chances of winning the world series.

As to whether or not he throws like a girl, who gives a shit? The man would sink a three-pointer over dead intern Joe that would make him run and cry in a corner.

My wife and I are both Cubs fans.

The president is a Sox fan.

Talking smack about the Black Sox v. the Cubbie Bears goes with the territory in Chicago. It's all part of the city.

If he started trying to praise the Cubbies after being a Black Sox fan, we'd know he was full of shit.

She's a Cub fan. I'm a Sox fan.

Somehow, we make it work.

24. Our family friend was the same. They had it engraved on their tombstones also.
His says "Go Sox!" and hers says "Go Cubs!". Great marriage. Unfortunately, neither lived to see their guys win the WS.

18. It's my best guess that the 2012 election will hinge on the
alienation of Cubs fans.

It's a crucial demographic, no question.

Obama's flippant stance toward the Cubs dooms his legacy.

19. No different than Hillary saying that....
she was a "lifelong" Yankees fan when she was running for Senate in 2000.
Of course, everybody knew she was full of crap, and she just wanted to gain some more points.

We Mets fans just rolled our eyes :eyes: and voted for her anyways.

22. Actually there is a rivalry in Chicago between White Sox fans and Cub fans
and Obama is more a White Sox fan. As far as his throwing, well, it may be nothing to write about but then again his true passion is basketball.
