Kansas: Jenkins' Primary Challenger Makes It Official

Several months after he announced he was looking at challenging Rep. Lynn Jenkins in the Republican primary, state Sen. Dennis Pyle made his campaign official Tuesday.

"The people of Kansas and especially those in the second district deserve a true conservative as their congressman," Pyle said in a statement.

Pyle filed his candidacy last year and has since reported only raising about $60,00 for his bid. Jenkins reported having $749,000 cash on hand at the end of March.

Jenkins came to Congress last cycle after winning a primary against former Rep. Jim Ryun (R), who went on to defeat one-term Rep. Nancy Boyda (D) in the 2008 general election.
