PPP poll: Dead heat for Marshall, Cunningham

A second state-wide poll shows Elaine Marshall and Cal Cunningham in a tight race a week before next Tuesday's Democratic Senate primary.

A new survey by Public Policy Polling shows Marshall, the secretary of state, with 26 percent, followed by Cunningham, a former state senator, with 23 percent. Chapel Hill lawyer Ken Lewis had 7 percent, according to a new survey by Public Policy Polling, Rob Christensen reports.

The poll also found that Marcus Williams, a Lumberton lawyer, had 4 percent, and Susan Harris and Ann Worthy at 3 percent each. There were 34 percent of voters undecided.

The survey suggests that Cunningham's two weeks of television advertising has enabled him to nearly catch up to Marshall.
