71. Is it a personal page or a professional page?
My university makes a clear distinction. We have pages for our departments that are to steer clear of politics and personal matters. Our own personal pages can have whatever we want withink Facebook limits.

74. It is the personal page of a High School Principal
she is already embroiled in controversy because some of her professional decisions within the school may have been politically motivated.

Her facebook page undermines her contention that she is politically unbiased.

The district superintendent continues to take her at her word, despite mounting evidence to the contrary.

Energy project first of its kind in the state
Tilton:
By VICTORIA GUAY
vguay@citizen.com
Saturday, April 3, 2010

Representatives of state government, along with local school district officials and more than a dozen members of the public attended a groundbreaking ceremony Friday for a biomass plant that will heat the middle and high schools in the Winnisquam Regional School District.

Before introducing Friday's guest speakers, Cheryl Somma, business administrator for the school district, reminded everyone of how the project began, which was through a 2008 energy audit of by Honeywell, the thermostat and heating systems company based in Morris Township, N.J.

<snip>

The project, which also includes the building of a classroom, also will serve as the foundation for a green energy curriculum in the district which will feature prominently in the high school's vocational-agricultural program.

<snip>

The project has been funded through a Qualified School Construction Bond award from the state Department of Education of $3.55 million, which came from federal economic stimulus money.

I've lost friends over this. I couldn't believe this girl I used to work with joined this. She responded to me that she saw it and thought it was a funny joke. And after about ten people from my high school class group joined it, I decided that I'd had enough of those people and I left their group. None of my real friends were there anyway, so it was no big loss. I don't have time in my life for hateful people, especially those who claim to be such wonderful Christians, ya know?

For a high school principal it is inexcusable. Sadly there are people like her who would be astonished to find that most people don't share her vile sense of humor. She should be fired.

43. This one, however, is not unrelated:
Seven months after President Obama delivered a televised back-to- school address, the State Board of Education told an English teacher at Winnisquam Regional High School that the district did not violate his academic freedom and due process rights by barring him from showing the speech live to his students.

Neal Byles, who teaches English language and composition, journalism and media analysis, cited speeches by past presidents that were shown or delivered at the school in arguing that he should have been allowed to show the live speech.

He also argued that he was wrongfully denied a hearing with the local school board to appeal the superintendent's decision not to show it.

Obama's Sept. 8 address encouraged students to study hard and dream big. Beforehand, conservative leaders had worried about the speech potentially indoctrinating students.

"I think we can all agree that it was something of a sleeper, as the content of the speech was pretty bland," said John Teague, the district's attorney.

Before the speech, Superintendent Tammy Davis said she received 15 to 20 calls from parents concerned about their children viewing it. State Education Commissioner Virginia Barry sent out an e-mail to superintendents advising them to use their own discretion in deciding whether to show the address...

It's pretty obvious who the local school board's sympathies are with.

"I’m sure you are receiving many comments from people outraged by the public conduct of your high school principal, Ronna Cadarette. I have no problem that she does not agree with the policies of the President but her ill advised use of gutter humor on a social network to express that disagreement displays extremely poor judgment. If we cannot count on our educators to help heal a divide that is crippling this country, we don’t have a very bright future to offer the children entrusted to them. I would hate to be a teacher or a student in a school led by someone with such contempt for our democracy and such an embarrassing lack of common sense."

34. I am on facebook..basically to
keep up with family who live a great distance away and I have made contact via FB with friends from high school, which is great since we all graduated in 1959. Then....this piece of crap appeared. Every time I see it, it makes me feel sick..just sick. It has been posted by family, and a few of the old HS "friends". At first I would message them saying things like "do you really want to be someone who prays for another persons death?" "To pray for the death of our president?" "Our president was elected by our democratic system." "No, this is not a joke. It is not a joke to wish for our president to die..or to even jokingly pray for anyone's death." "Is human life a joke?" "Is our democracy a joke?" And etc. No one has ever responded. It really is horrid! What it does do though, is show clearly the ugly side of the person who posted it...and as much as I would like to put it behind me for each person who posted it, I know I will never be able to do that. Sad! They have shown a part of who they are that can never be taken back...and a part that I sure never wanted to see.

70. This is a response?
http://www.concordmonitor.com/article/principal-anti-obama-facebook-group-joke

Shouldn't that have read, "Educator asks for President's death; thinks its a joke."

I'll fight for anyone's First Amendment right, but a school administration that condones and teaches hate?

1) This administration's first response is to pass it off? Shouldn't that first response have been, "We take every situation that involves your children with the utmost of concern and will certainly be looking deeper into this."

2) Do you really want a principal and an administration that thinks its okay to express her political concerns through asking for the death of a man? Would she and her administration like to explain to a man's children why its funny and not offensive that she's asked God to kill their father?

3) Where is oversight in our local education system? Where are the check and balances? What kind of old-boy network is going on in this place that they protect supporters of hate and point fingers at people who question such a system?

4) Where are the parents? What is their opinion? Is this the kind of attitudes the local tax-payers want in charge of teaching their children? I half wish I lived in their district, and then again I feel lucky I don't.

5) Why is this journalist being led around by the nose instead of asking these kinds of questions? Isn't it the press's responsibility to hold our public institutions accountable? "Hi, administration? Do you think its okay for one of your educators to ask for the death of another person publicly? Its just a joke? Oh, okay, thanks for your time."

6) The most telling bit in all of this is that as far as we can tell from the article, there is zero remorse on the part of this person. She really thinks asking for someone to die is just a joke. I have no love for Gordon Brown, but look at how he handled calling someone a bigot. Now look at the principal's reaction again. Speaks volumes.
