Stop Baby Stop! Obama Puts New Offshore Drilling Projects On Hold (With Video)....
Edited on Fri Apr-30-10 10:32 AM by BlooInBloo
After he paused to think about it, I suppose this was pretty much the obvious decision to come to.

"MOUTH OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER (AP) -- Oil from a massive spill in the Gulf of Mexico was oozing into Louisiana's ecologically rich wetlands Friday as storms threatened to frustrate desperate protection efforts. The White House put a hold on any new offshore oil projects until the rig disaster that caused the spill is explained.

A top adviser to President Barack Obama said Friday that no new oil drilling would be allowed until authorities learn what caused the explosion of the rig Deepwater Horizon. David Axelrod told ABC's "Good Morning America" that "no additional drilling has been authorized and none will until we find out what has happened here." Obama recently lifted a drilling moratorium for many offshore areas, including the Atlantic and Gulf areas."

2. It's the obvious choice. This should swing public opinion back towards limiting offshore.

8. No alternative than to cut the political losses
It wasn't good public policy in the first place- but could have been a prophylactic against the hue and cry once the next gas price spike comes along.

And come along it will.

9. Lets hope he follows his heart instead of following Politics when making decisions...

Obama has a tendancy to give in to republicans...that is primarly because of Rahm but i am hoping this disastrous judgment to give into this silly republican talking point will be a turning point for the admin and actually follow what the people on the left wanted him to do: LISTEN to the people not Corporations, and thus by extension, all republicans.

I just hope that they dont give up on the entire engergy reform bill. It's time to make it tough. But i suspect they will just bench it which will be a big win for corporations since no change is better than anything.
