the oil spill should discredit bipartisanship
before the summer of 2008, drilling was a partisan issue. The democrats opposed expanding domestic drilling, and republicans were fighting for it. Remember, the democrats had filibustered drilling in ANWR.

Then Obama flipped on offshore drilling, and Pelosi followed suit.

Obama's message is let's get beyond the partisanship, let's use the best ideas from both sides, etc.

That sounds really good. I mean it, it really does sound good and reasonable and all that. But there are cases where the democrats actually have the CORRECT position, and the GOP has the WRONG position.

When the GOP says offshore drilling is safe, they're saying something that's not true. If we start saying it, we'll be lying too.
