Let's hear progressives defend a war buildup, this'll be good |
|
It's a freak show of brainwashed propaganda responders all chanting "We'll pull out by 2012" and "It's the beginning of a process", blah blah blah mutha-fcking BLAH! More people will die, more Americans will die like your kids so you pretend democrats and progressives keep chanting your praises of war, see what the hell that gets you.

2. No one who defends it can really be called a progressive. |
|
They could more accurately be called, "centrists," DLC, Dem-Lite, or conservative.
That is my opinion, anyway.

have to learn to deal with it. "Progressives" only make up about 1/3 of the party.

someone who has only been here 9 months to set us straight as to what a real Democrat is. Try your childish antics someplace else.

Progressive ideals make up much of the Democratic party. Last time I checked every Democrat I know pretty much wants the same things.

8. Then you don't talk to many people. |
|
I know Democrats that are pro Afghanistan and Democrats that are anti, and most of the ones I know are pro. I don't know a single person IRL that calls themselves a progressive. Must be a Southern Democrat thing. You know we are just a bunch of warmongers down here.

And yes, the South is traditionally pretty gung-go on that stuff. That's part of the reason I try to avoid that region.

7. Simple: the US needs geopolitical control of energy supplies and distribution routes. |
|
http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2009/05/pipelineistan-goes-af-pakWith control comes the assurance of continued stability for our corporations and military... not to mention an assurance that the Wall St. bail outs won't be wasted investment...

22. How about stability of gasoline prices? |
|
Edited on Wed Dec-02-09 08:25 PM by jeanpalmer
Will we get that? Will the corporations give a price break to the people who footed the bill? LOL.
Or will they raise prices to the maximum pain level?

10. You're ignorant about what a progressive is |
|
I'm one. I'm actually against all war in general because I believe there is always an alternative. I believe that if some dictator like Bush wants to go to war he should be the one who actually fires the first shot on the field of battle.

15. Did you not hear Obama during the campaign when he stated he was going to send more troops? |
|
He campaigned that Afghanistan was the war we needed to win and that he would be sending more troops there.
Why so shocked that he is sending more troops?

20. Obama did not win the presidency on sending more troops to Afghanistan. |
|
That issue has always been controversial among Democrats and Independents. Even Obama himself said the country was polarized about it last night. You were not listening. No wonder you are shocked that Obama supporters and Americans are not happy with his decision.
So in summary Obama was elected to get us out of Iraq, not into Afghanistan.

19. What does it have to do with "progressiveness" |
|
"pacifists" might have a hard time, but why can't "progressives" ever support a war? And I'm talking about all out support. Would "progressives" have to have protested our WWII involvement?

The OP appears to be a temper tantrum because some progressives disagree with their viewpoint. The name calling is a dead give away.
