Wow, the hypocrisy is pissing me off....quotes from the south.....
You know some of these same people are attending tea parties and have protested big government!
It amazes me how hypocritical people are. And no matter what Obama does they will complain and in 6 months be back complaining about big government again! And also be complaining about government regulation of the drilling industry.
Almost beyond belief!

Gulf Coast residents in this small fishing town welcomed President Obama's first appearance in the region yesterday following the massive oil spill, but many expressed frustration that the cleanup efforts have moved too slowly.

Obama also passed signs calling for urgent assistance. One roadside sign said, "Obama Send Help!!!!" Another urged, "Please Save Our Coast."

But for some coastal residents who fear the loss of their livelihood, Obama's pledges are not enough, and they are waiting to see further evidence that BP and the government are cleaning up the spill.

"Showing up with a big brigade isn't enough," said Noel Buol, a New Orleans resident who works part time in Venice as a charter fisherman. "They gotta get something done."

"Him coming down here is a step, but there's a lot more that needs to be done," Parker said.

5. Because we have all of our teeth and can spell correctly...
... most of the time anyway .... we tend to not get as much press coverage.

But I bet some of our non-southern friends would be surprised to see how many "Obama-Biden" bumper stickers there are down here. ;)

And I see more Obama t-shirts than I see "Rebel" flag t-shirts.

17. And this Yankee loves Southern Dems like you.
Thankfully there are sane people down in the South. Keep fighting the good fight.

I think some of the conservatives can be changed...they just "grew up" Republican. Ignorance and fear is embedded in them at an early age. Hey, I grew up with conservative parents too here in liberal blue Connecticut. There are tons of knuckle-dragging losers here too they are just thankfully outnumbered 3 to 1.

7. NPR had a story about some fishermen who understood the weather conditions
For the first couple days after the event started, the weather made it practically impossible for beginning to control the spill. One fisherman, who attempted to help said that you can't do ANYTHING in the Gulf with seven foot waves all around.

The Blame Game will come from people with an agenda to fully know that the conditions to burn the oil and attempt to stop the leak demand incredible resources. It's not like you just put a big finger in the leak and make it stop.

10. How do you know that the people posting signs asking Obama for help
are the same ones who are attending the Tea parties?

In Florida most of the people who I personally know are Democrats or Independents.

Why assume that most people in the South are conservative?

11. I'd think we can assume most people down here are conservative
based on voting habits.

However I see no way to know that the people quoted here are the same ones bleating about how we should lower taxes and do away with regulations. If they are though, whoo boy, the stupid... it burns.

13. well...
the difference between a bright blue and deep red community is 6 out of 10 of your neighbors to 4 out of 10 neighbors...

Don't paint the 4/10.

16. and here I was thinking that they didn't believe in government intervention.
If that was the case they'd just let nature and the private industry take care of this mess themselves.
