I remember crying with tears of joy when I watched this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJfGx4G8tjo
I still cry.
It hasn't even been two years yet.
This man inherited a steaming sack of shit to pick up.
Has he moved mountains yet?
Fuck no!
But he has moved a few pretty big hills!
Call me what you want, but I like this man!
And I can't imagine anyone else who could have fixed our image as a nation (Post Bush)as Barack Obama has done.
I mean,For gods sakes! He freak'n polled above the Dalai Lama!
That's a BFD! (IMHO).
It aint as easy as it looks people.
Throw a dog a bone..

<<I don't actually care how I'm addressed as long as I'm addressed by good people.>>

Same here, brother! :hi:

BTW, I was in that crowd that night, having driven from out-of-state to get there. It was a night I'll never forget. Perfect, almost balmy night, happy and HOPEful faces, plenty of joy in thousands of faces in the crowd around me. I listened and watched that great speech from a hundred yards away and saw the the future I'd worked for since Iowa.

It was probably a good thing that I wasn't there though( I was piss drunk ). ;)
I knew Obama was going to win so I started my election celebrating about noon(ish),and I didn't stop until about 20 minutes after this speech.(When I was drooling on the pillow).
It had been a looooong eight years. :)

13. That 2000 selection still makes me cry thinking about it
I was awake the whole night on election night, crying because I knew what was coming. I had just bought a house. All I could think of was how the economy was going to turn to shit, and how I was probably going to lose my job, and wondering why the hell I bought the house, as I would probably lose that, too. Well...That most of it came true. Haven't lost the house yet, but I probably will if I don't sell it before the latest temp job is over.

I also still cry, because I cannot believe there are that many ignorant, stupid people that would even consider letting such a stupid, incompetent crook run our country. Makes me ill just thinking about it. It makes me even more ill to think they were stupid enough to give him a second term. What a fucking nightmare.

It reminds me of such a happy, happy night!

One of the things that struck me when I watched then and as I watch it now is how ready he looked that night. There was a stillness and peace about him that brought such comfort. I knew I was watching a man stepping into his destiny, confident, proud, humble and strong.

12. I think Obama will go down as the best president ever.
When anyone criticizes him, I ask them what they have accomplished in the last year-plus? To do all he has accomplished in such a short time and in spite of all the "No" party has to offer is incredible.

I love my president and vice president. I've never been able to say that before.

It wasn't until I heard him speak for the first time when Obama announced him as his running mate that really sealed the deal for me. Joe is so articulate in his speeches. He touches on the very foundation of what made this country great and how we can make it great again. I really couldn't have expected a better VP!

And putting up with all the *&^%, including from your own party. The complainers and disdainers really need to take a step back and think how well they'd do. Or anyone else would do in his place.

Is that you essentially wanted Obama to become the progressive version of Bush. I never expected him to come out of the gate far to the left. He never presented himself that way.

After the stress of the past 8 years I think some of my friends were thinking I shouldn't be alone if he lost. It was a great, great night.

And as far as I am concerned, he has so far justified my faith in him. There are many things still to be done, God knows, and he has made some missteps -- but I really think Barack Obama is the man for the times.
