Kan. lawmaker says he's running for US Senate
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - A Kansas lawmaker says he's running for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate.

State Sen. David Haley of Kansas City, Kan., made the announcement Tuesday. Haley says he'll file paperwork later this month for the Aug. 3 primary.

Two other Democrats and three Republicans are now in the race for the Senate seat of Republican Sam Brownback, who's running this year for governor.

Haley has been in the Legislature nearly 16 years. He ran unsuccessfully for secretary of state in 2002 and 2006.
