3. Depends on what your definition of "live" is |
|
The town of my official residence, Dallas, TX, has a strong Democratic presence, but I'm pretty sure it went for McKook/Bimbo by a modest margin.
The town of my unofficial residence, Düsseldorf, NRW, was solidly behind Obama by about 90%-10%, but their sentiments don't show up in US polls, unfortunately.

4. My town had mixed support for him, and now has mixed, perhaps less, support |
|
although there are still many strong supporters. War, immigration and unemployment seem to be non-issues in a community that is made of beginning professionals and middle managers.
However, Health Care was a big deal here, as there is a medical school/research hospital, many large regional specialty clinics, and a major VA hospital within a mile of town. Consequently there are very large numbers of people involved in healthcare delivery. This made them passionate, although that passion was spread across the spectrum of support and opposition to debate leading to the bill and the bill that passed.

These morons all think Hitler was a socialist because his party's name had "Socialist" in it, so no votes for him. I wish I was kidding about that. The wingnut candidates are always fighting over who is "the most conservative."

7. I live in Connecticut, although Litchfield County can be more conservative then the rest of the |
|
state because it has very rural areas. I would say there is definitely still a lot of support here. And our rep, Chris Murphy is still quite popular. In fact, CT seems to be on the verge of trending very blue. We have a really good chance of getting a Dem Governor again. Our AG is killing the Rethugs in the polling to be our next Senator. The Dem SOS looks good to take the open AG slot. We seem to hate Lieberman, giving him approval ratings of around 30%. I would say I am pretty happy where I live right now.

8. Obama lost my fairly large Illinois Republican township by 6 votes. |
|
He would probably loose it by a little more today but it would still likely be close. I do not know anyone here who was for him and is now against him but the independents are more disgruntled today and he did fairly well with them in 2008.

I remember this red area being pretty supportive of Obama in '08. I don't know if he "won" the greater area, or my town, or not.
I haven't talked to many people about Obama since then. Some fellow teachers, who are furious with the appointment of Duncan and the privatization/union-busting agenda for public education, and I've listened in while a few of my students crucify him; mainly repeating what they are hearing at home from their parents. Those aren't students from families that would have supported him in '08, though; those are the most rabid of the tea-baggers in my area.

12. I don't know. The area is largely Democratic as is my state, but |
|
there are a lot of racists who hate him because of his race and a lot of "religious" conservatives who think he is satan. I think it varies sometimes even by neighborhood, and I really don't know.

It's a very small, very rural town in Massachusetts--now, granted, we did go for Senator Softcore by a huge margin, but that's only because Coakley was a dead fish as a candidate.

As I currently live in Wichita, KS (Home of the biggest bunch of frustrated child-molesters in the world), this place is definitely anti-Obama. Not all, but the majority of these knuckle-draggers are (in their mind) staunch conservatives, but really just narrow-minded bigots that have never been far from home, and get their news of the rest of the world from Faux News.

my town backed Obama by a margin of around 400 votes (about 2000 voters turned out) then the following year flipped for Governor Burger King. Not sure what the opinion on Obama is here now. I don't see anything positive or negative.
