Obama is not a war monger |
|
Cheney and Bush, and all their friends profited from war. It was their driving force, along with a strong need to rule the world.
Obama is not
I say, give him the benefit of the doubt. I am willing to trust in him, given his hatred of war. I believe he knows something that is making him think that it is important and mandatory that we dismantle forces that could cause another 9-11. Otherwise, why in the world would he be pushing this? He knows what a mess Iraq was and still is. He has nothing to gain by doing this except criticism. He must know we must do this.
I hate war as much as anyone. But I am willing to believe in him.

And "better than Hillary" is about as weak as "better than Bush". I didn't work my ass of for Obama so he could agree with Bush and Hillary.

No excuses. Just get over to your nearest recruiting office as soon as possible and offer your own life as easy as you spend the lives of others.

When have I opened up an unsolicited attack on a group of DUers just because someone posted something I agree with? Ever?
What you're doing is extremely bad form and serves no purpose other than to fan the flames. Do you just enjoy the conflict? Is that it?

18. How do you figure Obama is not profiting from war? |
|
Taking the easy way out insulates him from "weak on defense" charges in 2012. I would count possible re-election as President a "profit".

He is diametrically opposed to the previous administrations vision of the world. What many do not understand is that the road to peace is not an easy one.

while he was in the Senate. he also said he was going to escalate the war in Afghanistan, and is about to send another 30,000 troops to fight there.
by definition, that makes him a warmonger.
edit: in addition, he is opposed to signing the treaty to ban land mines.

flies like a duck, eats like a duck, waddles like a duck, preens like a duck, is going to the Rose Bowl like an Oregon Duck, shits like a duck, dives like a duck and sends thirty thousand plus more troops to a war that is not in America's best interest any longer and hasn't been for ages like a war mongering (even if peace prize winning)duck, I'm inclined to call it a duck.

36. He may not be a war monger, but he is strangely devoted to making a bad situation worse. |
|
Regardless of whatever intelligence he has access to that we presumably don't, putting more troops on the ground in Afghanistan is not going to speed up anything about the occupation. It's like throwing water on a grease fire. No details regarding operational strength of Al-Qaeda (if any) or the Taliban (which is less an organized force and more a cultural movement) are going to change the big-picture problem that the Afghan people see Americans as an occupying force that is not fighting on their behalf, and after 8 years I doubt that anything we can do will change that, least of all throwing more troops at their country.
I do not believe this war will be over in 3 years, and I think escalating it is exactly the wrong thing to do, especially given the state of the economy.
But then, Obama hasn't been doing a very good job on the domestic front either. I've got a host of issues with his bizarre and endless conservative trend on so many topics.
