Larsen backs Heck in 3rd District race

U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Wash., the congressman who represents northwest Washington, wants Olympia businessman Denny Heck to become the next congressman from southwest Washington.

Larsen announced on Friday that he is supporting Heck, a Democrat who is seeking the 3rd District seat of retiring U.S. Rep. Brian Baird. Heck is battling State Sen. Craig Pridemore, D-Vancouver, for the Democratic nomination.

"Southwest Washington has the highest unemployment rate in the state: Denny knows the economic challenges of the district and will fight hard to put people back to work," said Larsen, who represents the 2nd District.

"Denny has a strong track record of success serving the public as a state legislator and working on-the-ground in the business community.
