1. When Ron Paul and Bernie Sanders agree on something, all bets are off the table.
I have no idea what happens now.

2. Gregg supports Sanders' 'Audit the Fed' amendment, but not Vitter's Fed amendment--
Edited on Tue May-11-10 10:15 AM by flpoljunkie
which Gregg said would take away the Fed's independence to set money policy and hurt Main Street. Don't know if any Dems support Vitter's amendment, but I doubt it. Sanders said it was never his intention to interfere with the Fed's monetary policy decisions.

3. But, but, but...
When I posted the arguments that, before the compromise, Sanders amendment would interfere with monetary policy, I was criticized as if I was a Republican. Now that the roles are reversed - it's OK? politics is insane!

6. Sanders said today his original amendment would not have interfered with monetary policy
I do agree that 'politics is insane' at times.

13. ...then he chose to 'modify' it
Well, it passed, so that's done - let's hope it helps shed some light on the Feds fuckups.

4. What would Wall Street do if it's discovered there is no money in The Fed, only credit and illusions

8. Just curious... why would anyone be against this?
Unless there's some monkey-business going on at the Fed?

12. Now voting on Vitter's amendment. I don't think it's a cloture vote.
Expect it to fail.

14. Vitter's amendment fails 37-62.
Sanders voted for it, along with Feingold, Lincoln and others. Did not hear all the votes.

17. Senate now voting on McCain amendment addressing Fannie and Freddie.
Knowing it's McCain, I assume it will not be approved. The Dems want to deal with Fannie and Freddie in a separate bill.
