So, What Is The Current "Too Liberal" "Too Conservative" Polling On Obama and Democrats?
Edited on Wed May-12-10 09:37 PM by TomCADem
I would think that with some of the stuff going on, that more people will see President Obama as a centrist, rather than too liberal. I know some on this board see him as a conservative. But what are the current polls on how he is perceived?

Surely, no more than 30 percent of the population see President Obama or the Democratic Party as too liberal.

1. I think he's a centrist that is often easily moved
The problem is that in corporate controlled America the winds only move centrists in one direction, to the right.

2. Someone On This Board Once Claimed That Perception Is Reality...
...which may not be true, except in politics. Thus, what I wonder is what is the current polling on this issue. Do most Americans share your belief that President Obama is a centrist?

5. That's a good question. I suspect not.
I think that generally the left would be more likely to see him as a centrist and the right would see him as they see anyone with a (D) after their name, as an extreme leftist.

There must be polling on this somewhere.

3. The hinge issue is pie. If you like pie, you should like Obama.
If not, then you probably won't.

13.  - - -
Pie as comfort food, and pie as intense sweetness for a president who must preside over a bitter country.

7. Wow! I Would Love To See That Poll!
Gallup? Rasmussen? I would love to rub it in the face of some right wingers I know who insist that he is a socialist.

6. I don't know, look at the polling.

Take Gallup for instance:

With Dems has has a good approval, in the middle for indies and conservatives hate him.
Tells me he is a center to center-left politician. Obama is conservative only if you are in Europe. In the United States, he is still a moderate. Conservatives here are so nuts that they don't get that.

He has not changed from the election on the Political Compass either:

He is between the conservatives and Kucinich. For the United States, he is a moderate (or a centrist). He could go to center-right or center-left on some issues. There are certainly Dems more conservative then him. There are also Dems more progressive.

By the way, in the UK Cameron is pro-choice and he supports the health care system though he is to the right on economic issues. Would never fly here with Rethugs. The US is more conservative in some ways then the UK.

9. Cameron supports the health care system because he knows damn well it works
...and that losing it would be a disaster. Most relatively "sane" Canadian conservatives feel the same way about their health care system (only the Stevie Harper neohosercon wing would ever consider dismantling it, and in a parliamentary system, they would never have the votes)

Not that I'd vote for either of them if I lived in those countries, but it's sad that even most right wingers can grasp a reality there that the supposed "left" party fails to see in this country. :evilfrown:

11. Because the UK is to the left of us? It is kind of sad.
And to think, we could have not had our independence. Just kidding...
