Total numbnuts move to start with. Pushing policy you know to be counter productive, dangerous, and even under the best case scenario a solution that is utterly ineffective to the core problem is ridiculous.
Compromises between what is right and crazystupid don't usually end up even to be acceptable, the crazystupid drags down even the best ideas to an unworkable quagmire.
