President Obama Lets Campaign Metaphors Roll
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/05/13/obama-lets-campaign-metaphors-roll/

President Obama has a metaphor for Republicans: they are like bad drivers, he says, who still want the keys the car.

Mr. Obama tested out that line and a few others as he previewed his election-year message to voters during a high-priced fundraiser at the St. Regis Hotel in Manhattan Thursday night. He scooped up $1.3 million to help Democrats win election to Congress.

One hundred eighty five people – including 23 lawmakers, many from New York — attended the dinner. The price tag was $15,000 for individuals, $30,400 for couples and $50,000 for VIP couples, who were treated to a private reception with the president.

“They’ve done their best to gum up the works, to make things look broken to say no to every single thing,’’ Mr. Obama told the crowd, adding, “Their basic attitude has been if Democrats lose, we win. So after they drove their car into the ditch, made it as difficult as possible for us to pull it back, now they want the keys back. No! They can’t drive!’’

2. I think my metaphor for what keys are is different.

Interesting to hear different views on it.

However I do agree the systems that have caused so many problems need to be be thought on before they make policy, however I think that is the systems behind those politicians.

I think the key is like this song. I don't think it is about politics.

Whew, that one lights up things, To Life!!!!!

Can you feel that one, wow, what a song!!!!!!!

Seems some country girls in the mix tonight. The more the merrier Yee Haw!!!!!

Gone Country - Alan Jackson
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVAQqreCyeM

She's been playing in a room on a strip
For ten years in Vegas
Every night she looks in the mirror
But she only ages
She's been reading about Nashville and all
The records that everybody's buying
Says 'I'm a simple girl myself
Grew up on Long Island'
So she packs her bags to try her hand
Says this might be my last chance

She's gone country, look at them boots
She's gone country, back to her roots
She's gone country, a new kind of suit
She's gone country, here she comes

Well the folk scene is dead
But he's holding out in the village
He's been writing songs speaking out
Against wealth and privilege
He says 'I don't believe in money
But a man could make him a killin'
Cause some of that stuff don't sound
Much different than Dylan
I hear down there it's changed you see
They're not as backwards as they used to be'

He's gone country, look at them boots
He's gone country, back to his roots
He's gone country, a new kind of suit
He's gone country, here he comes

He commutes to LA
But he's got a house in the valley
But the bills are piling up
And the pop scene just ain't on the rally
He says 'Honey I'm a serious composer
Schooled in voice and composition
But with the crime and the smog these days
This ain't no place for children
Lord it sounds so easy it shouldn't take long
Be back in the money in no time at all'

He's gone country, look at them boots
He's gone country, back to his roots
He's gone country, a new kind of suit
He's gone country, here he comes
Yeah he's gone country, a new kind of walk
He's gone country, a new kind of talk
He's gone country, look at them boots
He's gone country, oh back to his roots

He's gone country
He's gone country
Everybody's gone country
Yeah we've gone country
The whole world's gone country

3.  Whoopee. Sorry but rhetoric alone doesn't work for me anymore.
I could care less about cute speeches, dogs, jokes clothing or any of that crap about any of these pols. I want real health-care and I want Civil Rights for all Americans.I want real financial oversight and someone to stand up for the poor. I want FOCA to be passed and women to be equal citizens and their right to control their own bodies protected.
Sorry to vent but this cutsey campaign crap while pandering to the rich grates on my last nerve. And I also would like to see mandatory public election financing.$50,000 a couple? There is something immoral about that. I remeber thinking it was horrible when people paid $10,000 for a pic with Bush. I used to be happy that we didn't do things like that.I was wrong.

4. If someone does do that, it is a double fault.

Once for not doing what is best, and once for hiding what they actually do.

However I think many people are working on making things better. And I believe in concepts of democracy, so figure it is up to elected officials to get it right.

Rush - Closer To The Heart
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDRPtg0kmJU

And the men who hold high places
Must be the ones who start
To mold a new reality
Closer to the heart, closer to the heart

The blacksmith and the artist
Reflect it in their art
They forge their creativity
Closer to the heart, yes closer to the heart

Philosophers and ploughmen
Each must know his part
To sow a new mentality
Closer to the heart, well closer to the heart

You can be the captain
And I will draw the chart
Sailing into destiny
Closer to the heart, yes closer to the heart
I said closer to the heart, yeah closer to the heart
Closer to your heart, I said closer to your heart

I don't need a pep talk. But apparently some folks in DC could stand a review of what it means to be a Democrat.
