Republican Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos will officially announce that he's taking on incumbent Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer as early as mid next week, the Daily Politics has learned.
"Next week, we're going to have a big announcement and I have been exploring a possible run for US Senate against Sen. Schumer," Maragos told the Daily Politics this morning.
There's been lots of buzz about Maragos, who has been the county's top financial executive since January 1, taking on incumbent Schumer, who isn't exactly lacking in the cash or name ID departments.
