only, I don't understand the connection between Daniel Pearl and the freedom of the press act. He was not murdered by a government trying to restrict free speech. He was murdered (supposedly) by Islamic radicals because he was Jewish (though I still contend it was a put-up job by the CIA to bolster the war on terror).
In any case, tracking regimes that are hostile to a free press is good. Daniel Pearl's murder was bad.
