Alabama Democratic Conference endorses Sparks
(AP) — MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The state's oldest black political organization, the Alabama Democratic Conference, has endorsed Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks for governor rather than U.S. Rep. Artur Davis.

The endorsement Saturday in Montgomery means Sparks has swept all four major black political groups.

Sparks said the ADC endorsement wasn't handed to him when Davis decided not to seek it. Sparks said he had a long record of working with the ADC.

Davis issued a statement saying the days of a few powerbrokers speaking for Alabama Democrats is over.

1. Now that Al Wynn and Cold Cash Jefferson are gone, Davis is the
winner of "Most Loathsome Congressional Black Caucus Member" category.
