Natrona County Democratic leader may run for governor (WY)
CHEYENNE -- Natrona County Democratic Party chairwoman R.C. Johnson said Monday she'd be willing to step up and run for governor if party officials can't find another viable candidate by the end of the candidate filing period next week.

Johnson said she was one of several people state Democratic party leaders spoke with at last weekend's state party convention in Casper about running for governor. Two candidates are currently running for governor on the Democratic ticket -- Rex Wilde and Al Hamburg -- but both are political outsiders with little support among the party's rank-and-file.

A speech pathologist from Casper, Johnson said she believed party leaders would find another viable candidate by the end of the state's candidate filing period on May 28. But if they don't, she said, she'd be willing to run herself.

"I will know what I'm going to do on the 27th of this month," she said.
