It's fucking Kentucky. I'd be shocked if the Tea Party lost there. The media makes it seem like it's the beginning of some kind of revolution. If more people like Rand Paul ran the country, we might as well just migrate to Mexico or Canada.

1. "The media makes it seem like it's the beginning of some kind of revolution. "
Maybe not the revolution they're hoping for.

Dems had a very interesting primary.

10. Thanks for this info, I just turned on CNN and
stupid Cooper proudly states how they have been talking all about the tea party. Are they really that stupid? This group is so overrated, they just happen to be loud and angry so the media gives them all the attention. Ugh!!

11. Teabaggers get all the attention but Dems have bigger rallies and
tonight, bigger turnouts.

5. Because they aren't listening to
their DC leaders. McConnell put his full leadership behind the loser.

12. Yes, this is it
McConnell carries a lot of weight in Kentucky and Grayson was his candidate. He recruited him to run and put his weight behind him. And he got crushed.

That's why it's a big deal.

7. Paul's victory is a brilliant opportunity for Progressives.
The seat is certainly staying GOP so there is not a sum loss, but there are many bright rings around this cloud.

First, McConnell's candidate was defeated by a Tea Party Insurgent. The minority leader is impotent in his own state.

Second, now the Tea Party has a candidate that can be followed and can make mistakes. For the longest time the Tea Party was a movement that avoided choosing candidates so that they could remain a blank slate upon which any disenchanted voter could relate. Now, as Tea Party candidate, Rand Paul, bluders through the process, every mistake and outrageous comment is attributable to the Tea Party and its chosen candidate.

9. Rand Paul won the Republican primary.
It remains to be seen if he'll win the state. I think he's going to reveal just how far to the right he really is, and I suspect it's even to the right of Kentuckians. Yes, it's a conservative state, but like his father, Rand Paul wants to take the country back a century and a half. I don't think the common voter in Kentucky is that regressive.

I haven't known too many people from Kentucky, though. Enough to know they pronounce it differently than I do.

14. Kentucky transplant here
The local pronunciation of Kentucky is probably the same as yours. It's Louisville that's pronounced differently than most people would say it-- Lou-uh-vuhl.

And lately, unfortunately, Kentuckians have a record of voting heavily for Democrats in primaries, then putting Republicans into office. It wasn't this way when I moved here 30-years ago. Hopefully November will see the state go back to voting for the Dems.

13. Nobody is saying Kentucky is the "pulse of America." You're not understanding the story
The story is that the Republican establishment got shut down, big time.
