8. Specter was Obama's choice by default and I'd bet he's glad he's gone
Obama inherited the Specter nonsense. And now Specter is gone.

You can bet Obama will be helping Sestak against Toomey, who is just insane.

31. I wouldn't really call the Specter thing an inheritance per se
but it was just part of normal political deal making. Specter wanted to switch to get support from a popular sitting president. The president needed his votes on two crucial pieces of legislation. So that was that. It didn't quite work out.

In the end, all that matters to the WH is that there is a reliable (D) vote coming out of PA for future votes. The fight against Toomey (a real crazy bat shit RWer) begins! And as you said, the WH will fully throw their weight behind Sestak because it's a crucial seat and will be a competitive election in November.

12. Obama ran as a "post partisan" candidate
Running against both parties is a fairly old (and apparently effective) trick. Obama did it two years and Sestak is doing it now.

11. Sestak is not known for being nice, many of his staffers quit on him.
But he is way to the left of Specter. A good thing overall.

This article explains how I feel about both Sestak and Specter: http://www.philly.com/inquirer/world_us/93870009.html?cmpid=15585797#axzz0oLCYszIv

Two cold humorless men.

26. I like it. He's only won two terms. Four years does not "Washington Elite" make.
We need more like him in the Democratic Party. Besides, standing next to Specter who's spent over 35 years in Washington, I believe Sestak is well within his rights to make that claim. And i do believe Sestak has been generous towards Specter who ran shitty, Swiftboat ads against him. To his credit. Specter has been quite the gentleman tonight, vowing to support Sestak in the general.

Compared to Specter, he was an outsider.

In addition, Washington establishment endorsed his opponent. So, in a way, he ran against Washington.

A large percentage of those get stuck in the Senate. Sestak is trying for a seat in the Senate, so his
comments are reasonable.

forgetting that she is part of the government.

Sestak is not an insurgent. He was simply more appealing than Specter. Not surprising after Specter twice referred to Democrats as Republicans during a fundraiser.
