Crist: Wooing the union?
Gov. Charlie Crist will be making perhaps a turning-point speech in Jacksonville Friday afternoon. He's scheduled to be at the state AFL-CIO conference at the Crowne Plaza Jacksonville Riverfront Hotel.

Other guests include Democratic U.S.Sen. Candidate Kendrick Meek and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink.

Meek has been widely regarded by the labor circuit so far in his Senate campaign. He's scheduled to speak at the conference on Saturday.

Here's the part to watch: Crist, in his newfound independence and recent veto of a controversial teacher pay bill (that the unions, well, hated), could score a few points as the AFL-CIO decides who to back in the general election.

1. Very interesting....
Meek may already be done for, but he's definitely finished if Crist gets the union support.

3. Crist has clearly jumped the shark...
next thing you know he'll come out of the closet (we can only hope).

I'm waiting to see if he'll veto these god-awful abortion amendments which are on his desk. If he does this, IMO it's a clear sign he is leaving the republican party of FL behind him. He has wavered on the issue before and he's given good indication that he is very not happy with the privacy issues of this bill so we shall see if he has the courage to do what's right.

4. Bet you a boatload of FL oranges that Crist vetoes the abortion amendments..
He is cutting all ties with the GOP and sliding left.
