Would you enjoy a press conference with Obama and (ONLY) Helen Thomas? |
|
That would be one interesting press conference? Helen Thomas is a true reporter as she doesn't give a shxt about anything except getting answers from politicians on tough questions. She isn't interested in advancing her resume, or positioning for a job on "Meet the Press", or moving up the press ladder. She is a dying breed.
Most reporters have become shills placed there to advance establishment agendas. The news media has replaced its reputation of informing the public and keeping government honest with an agenda of propaganda. The fourth estate has been sold out. Every story they publish is more about political machinations than informing. Left or right makes no difference. They are in partnership with the establishment and used to grease skids instead of exposing them. Once upon a time they served as a squeaky wheel that kept our government leaders fearful and honest. Today they are just another corporation with a corporate establishment mindset of don't rock the boat, and keep friends and enemies close.
I actually believe there may come a time in the future where the press would completely cover-up a story of note (that had nothing to do with national security), only because it was embarrassing or detrimental to politicians, big-shots, cronies, government and certain other interests, and it would be done because their top management believed it should be kept under wraps. :sarcasm:
Helen Thomas is the last of breed.

2. I adore Helen Thomas. What a lovely lady, and a true American. |
|
She asks the tough questions. She's hard on the people she likes, because she wants honesty. No soft ball questions from Helen.
That would be an incredible interview!
The one time I wrote to her thanking her for maintaining her standards during the Bush II era, she wrote me back! She's seen it all, and she knows when someone's lying or hypocritical.

My favorite line from "Final Days", a terrific satire on Clinton's Lame Duck Days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XmNIhYLyT4

Hard to believe that was almost 10 years ago. Even Helen was there, and the copy machine guy is classic.
