1. Can you post a Bush war speech for comparison?
Edited on Tue Dec-01-09 11:02 PM by tridim
I think some people here will be stunned at the contrast.

5. Not necessary. Bush's speeches are already word clouds.
Peeance-freeance, y'all!

8. Bush's speech at start of Afghanistan war:

Statement given after the start of the US and British military strikes on targets in Afghanistan on Sunday, 7th October 2001.

10. "terror", "terrorist" and "terrorists" should probably be combined.

12. Interesting comparison
In Obama's speech, the biggest (i.e., most frequent) word is "Afghanistan," followed by "people."

In Bush's, the biggest word is "military," followed by "America."

:wow:

13. The use of "America" is interesting too
In Bush's word cloud above, it's the second smallest word (after military of all things!), while with Obama's it seems a bit more middle of the pack. I'm looking at it as someone outside the US, but it certainly gives me a bit less of the "USA! USA!" vibe that I keep seeing out of, say, almost every Republican speech ever.

23. People hear what they want to hear
Enough people tuned out or turned off after hearing '9/11' without understanding the context.
