Griffith puts in his own cash

Alabama Rep. Parker Griffith loaned his campaign $75,000 ahead of next week's Republican House primary, when he'll face GOP voters for the first time since switching parties last December.

Madison County Commissioner Mo Brooks and veteran Les Phillip are challenging Griffith for the GOP nomination. Brooks has won a slew of endorsements from local Republican leaders, and he's put up a new ad featuring Griffith's 2008 Republican opponent, Wayne Parker, urging voters to pick "a congressman we can trust."

It's not the first time Griffith, a former radiation oncologist, put his own money into the race. Earlier in the campaign he loaned his effort $180,000.
