Remember redistricting! (Democratic Governors' Association)
2010 is not only a census year but a year when redistricting occurs in each state based on the census data. Traditionally, the party that hold a statehouse has *a lot* of influence in just how that plays out. There are 37 Governorships at stake. ~ pinto

Democrats now hold 26 of the nation's governorships, but in 2010, 37 governorships are in play. Add to the sheer number of seats the critical role those governors will play in redistricting, and you're looking at an election that happens only once every 20 years -- and one that could influence our country's political landscape for generations to come.

Get Involved: Over the next two election cycles, 39 governorships are in play: it's truly the "election of a generation." The DGA needs your help to make sure that Republicans don't manipulate the redistricting process and that President Obama's agenda of change and prosperity is a priority in every state.

1. Colorado Gov (and future Gov) is 100% Democratic
so are our legislature. I am hoping that the Republicans will finally lose both of their Representatives or restricted to one (Fundieland in Colorado Springs) that has a permanent "ignore" on this teabagger.

3. State level and national politics are one and the same this year.
I know there are many who only care about Congress and national politics. This is a year when everyone must work on state legislative and Governor's races. A few states controlled by a Democratic Governor and legislature could tip the balance in Congress for the next decade.

4. Agree. These state races will play a big role in "defining" Congressional representation.
