I agree. Get it out-whatever it is and try to put it behind them-go forward is the WH motto.

Rendell is latest Dem to want more information on Sestak offer
By Jordan Fabian - 05/26/10 01:35 PM ET

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) on Wednesday pressed for more information on an alleged job offer the White House made to Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) to force him out of the state's Senate primary.

Rendell is the third high-profile Democrat to ask for better disclosure, the other two being Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (Ill.), a close ally of the White House, and Rep. Anthony Weiner (N.Y.)

The Allentown Morning Call reported:

"I actually think the White House and Joe Sestak should be a little more detailed and put this behind them," Rendell said.

He said the issue of whether Sestak was offered a job in the Obama administration to get out of the primary race against Specter isn't on the forefront of voters' minds. But, he acknowledged that it is a distraction that will only linger if not addressed.

1. I agree, if that's the reason..to get it out and over, but I don't trust Durbin...
...seems like they're out to get Sestak...you wonder if they want to lose in November.

5. Durbin isn't the one to have mentioned this to begin with,
and I don't see a motive in him requiring that Sestak provides whatever information is missing.

Sestak needs to get this done before it consumes his campaign. Cause it would be foolish of him to have made mention of something vague which is now getting so much buzz, and not clearify, whatever it is that occurred. Doh.

6. Sestak also needs to learn
when to keep his mouth shut and what to say when he opens it.

8. That is really the main thing to draw from this.
I voted for the guy, but it is a poor indicator of his political skill.

15. Oh come on? This information came out months ago.
Are we supposed to emulate BushCo now? LOYALTY is everything? Obama didn't do anything wrong, but obfuscation is so very ... republican. :puke:

13. Durbin is wonderful and he is not out to get Sestak
He is the most liberal member of the Senate leadership and seems a genuinely decent guy. (I have Illinois relatives who think the world of him.)

There is NO way that Durbin, or any national Democrat wants Sestak to lose. I suspect he wants to end the story - and that can best happen if it is out.

2. If anyone knows about political wheeling and dealing, it's Rendell...
My guess is he already knows what went down.

7. The meme is already out there, and they figure they can take out Sestak..
and the administration at the same time, so the drumbeat will just grow louder.

17. I'd like to take that word 'meme' and crush it, grind it up then burn it.
It reminds me of the mindless animal behavior of the human race and Americans in particular.

10. But Axelrod said there would be
Tuesday David Axelrod said that "offering a job in exchange for Mr. Sestak's withdrawal would constitute a serious breach of the law." Axelrod is not a lawyer and in his senior position would not have offered his own opinion. He had to have been told this by WH attorneys.

9. Count on Rendell to help the GOP. Not the first time he does that with his big mouth.
Edited on Wed May-26-10 02:01 PM by Mass
Sure, the GOP will push, but do we need Dems to help the GOP?

Or is he just PO that PA Democrats did not listen to his advice.

14. Why? It isn't going to change any Republican minds
or change any Democratic minds who have already come to the conclusion that the FUCKING CRIME OF THE CENTURY WAS COMMITTED and a POSSE SHOULD BE ROUNDED UP TO GO CHASE THEM VARMINTS OUTTA THE WHITE HOUSE!

18. Get it out and let it die, that's the best thing
The closer to the election the worse it is. The sooner it comes out, the sooner people can forget about it and move on to something else.

Of course Sestak is not going to answer anything. It will have to be the Obama administration that steps up and spills the beans. But their plate is full with the Gulf mess, Memorial Day weekend, and other business.

20. I don't think there is anything illegal about it--it's politics and hardly the first time this has
been done. Obviously it didn't work because he continued to run in the primary.
