Healthcare paying dividends for my mother. |
|
My mother received the surprise of her live today. For the last 10 years the cost of her medication co-pay has balloon from $10 to $70 per refill. Today, when she went to pick up her monthly prescription, she was surprised to have to only pay $6.00. Puzzled after the transaction, when she arrived home, she received a letter in the mail from her insurance company stating that due to the new Healthcare plan that President Obama has passed, her out-of-pocket will be $6.00 for her future prescriptions.
Thank you President Obama!!!!!!!

9. Yeah, he has to be Superman, and can't do just a few things at a |
|
time, he has to do everything!
I know exactly how you feel, some people are just desirous that every problem is solved in 59 minutes.
I wonder where patience and rationality went in the Democratic Party of today.

11. As younger generations come of age to be politically active, |
|
the training of the last 20+ years become clearer & clearer. The last generation has raised an entire generation of people who want nothing but instant gratification! You know...if you want it get it now! If you don't have the $$, CHARGE IT!

13. Yes, I agree. I have a great nephew 14 who has no idea about |
|
waiting a few weeks to get what he wants: he simply goes on-line and gets it digitally in an instant, or has it mailed to him tomorrow, using his daddy's credit card.
He has a phone with all his friend's numbers, and with text, and he can get in touch with anybody in his small world in less than a minute.
So delayed gratification? He's never heard of that!

14. My grandchildren are similar. Their father tries to explain why |
|
they can't have some things right away, and even some NEVER, but their Mother is the complete opposite. Iguess I don't have to say that they were divorced about5 years ago. They do spend pretty close to an equal amount of time with each parent which is a very good thing. Shortly after Christmas ny granddaughter temporarily lost her christmas gift from her mother. The kids wee both staying here with my husband & I and thei dad went to work from here whild they were on their Christmas break. Their other was going to take them to their other grandmother's house for a day and less than a minute after the kids went out to their mother's car, they, along with mother, were back in here and mother was yellng, you find it, and we're not leaving until you do!
Now, my granddaughter was 11 yo at the time, and her mother bought her a $300+ IPOD for Christmas!!!! I helped her hunt and she finally found it between the chair & cushion in the LR. When my son came home from work later I tod him "Hmmm, Xxxxx wasn't scoring any points with Lxxxx today! I explained the problem & that I really thought an ii yo was way too young to have an IPOD! He agreed. He said he was floored when he heard how much she spent on ONE Christmas present, and howinsane he thought it was.
Their mother is someone who lives on credit card debt, and I can only hope between my son & I we can teach both kids that's not the way to a good & happy life. We keep trying, but it's a tough battle!!!

6. AND if she could use generics |
|
WalMart cost 4 dollars for 30 days and 10dollars for 90 days. My prescription plan (not thru Medicare) pays 5 for 45 days. But what they do is every so often I get a 90 prescription free. I don't ask questions since the clerk at Walmart says my prescription company doesn't charge. Maybe it is thru that same Healthcare plan from the government.

12. You might reconsider asking |
|
I had $4 prescriptions for a couple of years at one location. A couple of times I got them for free and the person never seemed to understand why. Like you, I asked no questions because that never seems to lead to anything good these days.
Well, I switched my prescriptions to a different pharmacy because my husband kept telling me he was paying so much less. Now all 3 of my prescriptions are free. It appears the first pharmacy just charged me the $4 because it was easier than billing my insurance company.

7. What part of the new HC plan caused this change? |
|
I I thought I studied the HC pllan pretty close while it was being debated, and I can't think of what part I can credit this great & welcome change for your Mom. Unless it somehow is connected to ins. co's having to put more of each dollar into actual HC instead of profits, this just seems strange to me...VERY NICE...but strange!

10. Was that supposed to take effect so soon? I thought of that, but |
|
last Friday Benie Sanders, on Thom Hartmann's show said they did manage to push through a $250 check to each person who is on Part D to help deal with the donut hole. I assumed from that (which he couldn't say for sure when those checks will go out)that it would be some time befre any corrections coud take effect through the hew HC legislation.

17. Wish I could say the same... |
|
Our 'insurance' changed on April first. We now pay 40% more and now we have a $6000 yearly deductible. The insurance company pays nothing until the full $6k is paid first, EVERY YEAR. The new 'insurance' pays 0% of prescriptions. We are being severely gouged and the HCR bill does zero to stop it. We cant afford to go to the doctor anymore AND I have insurance, how f'd up is that?
We had full insurance for the last 25 years.

20. many prescriptions are only $4 at national chain pharmacies... |

....and have been for years now. You might be able to get the generic even cheaper than $6. I only pay $4 each for several meds.
