1. Well, he might want to change his Memorial Day weekend plans to go to

Chicago & stay down there for a few days. Would show good faith, solidarity with the folks down there.

2. Agreed. If anyone gets a picture of him at a bar-b-que or anything like that, it could come back to
haunt him.

3. That would be looked upon as a extended photo Op!
I don't think it would help none....

They'd probably pissed about extended security,
or something else.

4. Presidential motorcades and police entourage generally get in the way after a while
While it would be a nice gesture, I don't think it's really necessary.

6. If he cared a single iota for Louisiana, the dyke proposal would
have already been approved long ago or a fast, viable alternative would have been proposed.

The administration is concerned about the political impact of the spill and the damage it would cause, not the actual ecological and economic impact it WILL cause as they refuse to approve emergency measures.

I assume apologists for this do understand that by delaying response this long fedgov in fact guarantees that the ecological damage the dyke plan is meant to reduce/prevent will in fact occur more every day they delay? Once oil gets in a huge marsh, you aren't getting it out.

7. Stupid photo ops are not the answer. He needs to direct the best people
get the resources and keep the pressure on BP to clean up their mess. I'm not going to begrudge this president or any other president a few days with his family.

5. I think the next outrage will be
that he didn't use his own cloths to soak up the oil. Or climb in the muck and suck it up in his mouth and the spit it in a container. Dam if he does or dam if he doesn't,

8. It gets more ridiculous
And yet they have no bone to pick with anyone else. Not Jindal, BP executives, no one else has anything to do with it!
