1. a political bribe to keep him from defeating Specter. |

A shitty thing for the Obama administration to try and do to knock a progressive out of the race.

4. I get that, but why are the wackos trying to make it such a big deal? |
|
It may not have been smart politics, but so what? I hear they want investigations - investigations on what?

They don't consider him "legitimate" and will do anything they can to take him down.

22. Spector was not a progressive he was a republican |
|
no matter if he did change to a Democrat he WAS a republican. And there is nothing wrong with what was done. Bush did it when he asked Phewlenty to drop his bid for the senate so Norm Coleman could have free access to the bid. And there were several others also. I don't remember them all. This is something Reagan did also.
Republicans think other Americans are like them, that they have selective memories and forget any thing the republicans have done.

17. All electoral politics is dirty. |
|
In this case, it would only be a misdemeanor.
Title 18 United States Code
§ 600. Promise of employment or other benefit for political activity
Whoever, directly or indirectly, promises any employment, position, compensation, contract, appointment, or other benefit, provided for or made possible in whole or in part by any Act of Congress, or any special consideration in obtaining any such benefit, to any person as consideration, favor, or reward for any political activity or for the support of or opposition to any candidate or any political party in connection with any general or special election to any political office, or in connection with any primary election or political convention or caucus held to select candidates for any political office, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.

for an office anyone can run for.
It would be for where they were to get Sestak to support Spector in return for it. When he would not have otherwise.

8. Gives Joe Scarborough something to talk about. |
|
In theory, it could be used to impeach him ... if you're dreaming and hoping ... (not YOU, speaking in general.)
But most non-talking heads agree ... those with legal expertise on the matter .... that it's much ado about nothing.
Plus the fact that the time line doesn't work and, even if he had been nominated for that reason, Congress would still have had to approve him. Given how many of the President's nominees are being filibustered, it would have been far from a guaranteed job.

The last President, a Repug, lied us into a war that has resulted in hundreds of thousands of dead people, most of them civilians, and the skunks are outraged about this.
I am disgusted with the f'ing hypocrits.

30. Sestak is a loose cannon |
|
Offering jobs for political favors is commonplace. It is commonplace to spell it out--you drop out of the primary and you can have this cushy high profile job.
What is not commonplace is somebody like Sestak who blabs the backroom wheeling and dealing to the media, and then will not shut up and will not "remember" that he "misspoke" or "mis-remembered" the details of the bribe.
