2. It is...the problem is that morans like Durbin have taken the Repuke bait
and try to "get to the bottom". The dems need to tell the Repukes to STFU...but that would take a spine, so it ain't gonna happen.

12. I've never seen it...what galled me was even during the faux impeachment
in 1998/99, the dems still were letting the repukes run things. Oh, and you'd think 2000 would make them realize who they should be fighting against.

11. Excellent point! If democratic legislators wouldn't take their issue's from FOX ...
channel talking points, we wouldn't have to be dealing with this mostly inane bullsh*t.

16. No , the problem is that the White House did not mount an effective response the second
this stuff started floating around.

Durbin and other Dems were well aware that the "bribe" meme was starting to take over rightwing media and blogs and was moving into the MSM.

I simply cannot understand how poorly Gibbs and whoever else is responsible for communications handled this. This memo is effective and it could have been released 2 months ago.

Sestak comes out looking like an idiot. But I still hope he gets elected over Toomey.

4. NO.
Even if in my state.

It shows how little people care that it would even work. Anyone else could run. Anyone over the right age in the state could run. this only informally clears the field. Or shows that if it does, people in the state don't even realize who is in local politics.

6. It's not an issue as long as the person is qualified.
And sometimes the person will realize they'll have a bigger impact, less work, more pay in the other job.

There doesn't seem to be any way to stop the stupid.

9. would that be a common response on DU?
suppose Henry Waxman, say, raised some questions about the deal. Would DUers say, sit down Waxman, you're making a big deal out of nothing.

10. shrub maintained too high a level of outrage to care much, to be honest
In fact, I might even be mildly pleased that he selected someone for any post that they were actually qualified for.

No, in general I don't much care but I have to wonder what old Blago is in trouble for and why Democrats were soooooo pissed at him when it came out he was allegedly making deals for Obama's seat and that Burris is sooooooooooooooo tainted just by being appointed by Blago but if Obama offers a job for a consideration that it all peaches and cream, especially if there was to be no ca$h involved.

Maybe there is some nuance that doesn't make the response hypocritical but sees Obama offering a high ranking appointment as an incentive or inducement as cool and froody.

13. No. That's not the point for me. The point for me is the exposure of the WH's special treatment of
Specter, such a recent Dem a and a Dem only for the sake of saving his own political ass. Now that was Obama's kind of guy.

So I do love that Specter went belly up and the WH is getting its payback for bending over for this opportunistic turncoat.

22. Right - they didn't throw an opportunistic turncoat to the wolves. They went to BAT for HIM over a
GENUINE and very viable Democratic candidate. They also left other REAL Democratic candidates hanging out to dry in previous elections.

But Specter, the oh so recently former Republican who didn't even vote for Obama, gets special treatment from Obama.

That's just sickening.

when it is done by Democrats and the GOP is worried about losing the next election...
