WH on Sestak: "... allegations of improper conduct rest on factual errors & lack a basis in the law"
Edited on Fri May-28-10 11:02 AM by Clio the Leo
Key points...

Sestak was not offered Sec. of the Navy. When the President announced his choice for that job, Sestak was not a potential candidate for the Dem. primary.

The position that he was offered WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN COMPENSATED. IE Had NO monetary value.

In PDF form....

1. The republicans are in the process of making huge asses of themselves
if they continue to pursue the impeachment route. This is such a non-issue it shouldn't even have required an official memo.

Whiny assed pubs will have to grumble and then move on to their next manufactured gotcha moment.

5. Uncompensated = Sestak would not have even gotten paid.
Epic fail Issa. Epic fail.

6. Great response
But Issa was raising this crap in March. Why did it take until the end of May to shoot it down? Gibbs was asked about this repeatedly. The "bribe" is now enshrined wingnuttery.

But, on the bright side, the Republicans will offer up lots of opportunities to look like opportunistic a*holes when people ask why the rules were different for all the Republican Presidents.

The White House needs to get its communications arm running a lot more smoothly than this.

Sidenote - this makes Sestak look like a complete self-aggrandizing jerk. He's in the Navy. He knows that Loose Lips Sink Ships.

7. Did I miss something? Not trying to nitpick,

"Sestak was not offered Sec. of the Navy. When the President announced his choice for that job, Sestak was still a Republican and not a potential candidate for the Dem. primary."

Sestak was a Republican??

9. The irony is that HAD the WH offered Sestak Sec. of the Navy...
.... a sweeter deal ... he might have taken it and we wouldn't be talking about it now.

13. But, the White House did offer
him an incentive not to run in the primary so it wouldn't be divisive. It's the republicon hackholes and the corporatemediawhores who are trying to make something BIG out of it.

WeDidIt said in his post.

"Last summer, I received a phone call from President Clinton. During the course of the conversation, he expressed concern over my prospects if I were to enter the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate and the value of having me stay in the House of Representatives because of my military background. He said that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel had spoken with him about my being on a Presidential Board while remaining in the House of Representatives. I said no. I told President Clinton that my only consideration in getting into the Senate race or not was whether it was the right thing to do for Pennsylvania working families and not any offer. The former President said he knew I'd say that, and the conversation moved on to other subjects.

There are many important challenges facing Pennsylvania and the rest of the country. I intend to remain focused on those issues and continue my fight on behalf of working families.

So Obama didn't even offer Sestak a paying job which was a base requirement in the allegations of the GOP!

But, the fucking hypocrites disregarded the fact that Saint Reagan DID OFFER A PAYING JOB!"
