Maureen Dowd is looking for her daddy, yet again
As she does once in couple of months, Dowd is publishing her recycled "Obama is cold when the nation is looking for a father" article.

1. So much criticism about Obama's demeanor. I for one don't

care if he emotes sufficiently for these people; that is not why so many people voted for him.

He's getting things done, or at least trying to. Why don't they concentrate on that? And while they're at it, it'd be nice if they'd spare an ounce of criticism for the real culprits.

2. I already know the President cares deeply about
every fucking thing in this country so I was able to learn from his speech and not have to act like a stupid bloodsucker afterwards and write about how emotionless it was.

3. Joan Walsh had a great response on This Week today
(Paraphrasing) "I don't need the president to be my Daddy. I had a really good one."

I really like her - calling out Arriana was a bold move.

9. Perfect! I didn't have a good
father figure and I'm not looking for one in the President of the United States.

11. She was GREAT this morning. She slammed EVERYONE who said they
want Obama to get angry, show emotion, and be their "daddy."

4. I don't want the president to be my daddy.
I have one already.

I want a president who is a calm, rational, capable manager of crises. I don't care about being reassured that there are no monsters under my bed. I don't want a fake daddy who says comforting things but doesn't do anything.

I want a president who acts, not one who picks up a bullhorn and tells me it's all OK and I should stop worrying and go shopping.

This country has turned into a nation of scared children who want a daddy president who they think will make the bad people go away and hand them a lollipop and a Wii. Apparently that goes specifically for MoDo, who has re-established her credentials as an idiot. :eyes:

6. Maureen Down is an idiot
who thinks that a 48-year-old man can either change his personality or should turn his tears on like a faucet for some good PR.
President Obama is who is he is...a calm, rational, intelligent leader who does not run around like his hair is on fire when managing a crisis.
He has been seen crying on a few occasions...when his grandmother died the day before he was elected president, at Dorothy Height's funeral and a few other times when it was not really clear what had moved him to tears.
He cries spontaneously sometimes like all human beings do, there is no need for him to manufacture tears and scream like a banshee in order to satisfy pundits who describe him as "cold."
He cares and he is competent, that is good enough for me and I am sure it is for other reasonable people as well.

7. Which makes him more real to me.
Our VP is more expressive but neither have ever come off as fake or trying to use emotions to manipulate others. Manufactured emotions don't sit well with me when used by politicians.
