Presidential Big Daddy Fantasy
Americans are prone to expect the Presidential Big Daddy to be both omniscient and omnipotent, a superman able to solve all problems quickly, easily, and at minimum cost to us. Unfortunately, our infantile needs cannot be met in this situation. Although President Obama might have handled some of the public relations in this catastrophe more adeptly, it is not at all clear that he could have made any real difference in the unfolding of the actual crisis given the limited tools under his control.

1. Anyone who attains the office of POTUS is already "bought & sold"....
Have been saying that for 40 years....since I could first vote.

4. Maybe we should get more "old money" politicians in office, then.
They're used to doing what they want (FDR, JFK)and don't become beholden to the payola because they don't need it.

Although I don't know how to explain Bush.

2. Reagan was the supreme example of that...empty headed but "reassuring".
Do we really need that? I don't think so.
