Jindal: I Believe In Limited Government -- And We Need The Federal Government For This Crisis
Also on This Week, Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA) called for a more active response by the federal government to the BP oil spill. Host Jake Tapper asked Jindal to reconcile his small-government conservatism with his call for more federal assistance. "When government grows too big, it doesn't do its core functions properly," said Jindal. "Absolutely, I believe in a limited government that is effective and competent in what it does. We need federal government exactly -- we need our federal government exactly for this kind of crisis."

1. Unlike needing to be alert to a volcano crisis, which he
famously denigrated. Hypocrite!

3. Yeah, not okay for people living near volcanoes.
But okay for people living near deep sea drilling wells. Jindal makes no sense.

2. It's going to be hard to beat up Jindal figuratively. We all hate his ideology, but he's working ..
his butt off down there in the Gulf.

I don't like him, but I admire his "work ethic" and sense of compassion for the people whose lives are presently being destroyed.

It may not be FAIR, but he's gleaning many political points and devotion of the LA constituency. That clout will carry through for a long time.

4. Jindal is lying to you. Please don't buy his bull.
He has been tied to the ruining of govt so that conservatives can prove it does not work. Total BS.

8. Understanding what? The idiot wanted sand berms built that may
have sent oil to Mississippi's way. I find it funny that you are impressed with him. In fact, I find it hilarious. Jindal can get on tv and say he cares every day. He can get on tv and rail at BP and the national govt every day. But I don't buy it because, you see, his way of thinking helped contribute to govt. having less regulations to begin with. He kicks govt. in the face and says big govt is bad then screams at them for not helping fast enough. And all politicians are tied to big oil in LA. Charlie Melancon (a Dem rep) cried about his way of life being ruined in the marshlands but how was he elected? Who is he tied to? I thought you were smarter then this. I won't blame the LA people, they have no one else to vote for down there.

12. If Bobby is going to continue his small government meme,
he needs to pull himself up by the bootstraps and start cleaning up that oil. He might get his right wing buddies together and figure out how to plug the leak, too, without increasing the federal debt.

14. Reminds me of Richard Shelby's hypocrisy on government spending
Conservatives love to bash big government, but are quick to bash government for trying to do little or cut spending in their district/state.

Richard Shelby recently had a campaign event speaking to a bunch of NASA people, where he vowed to fight to cut wasteful spending (this from one of the senators who rakes in the most cash for their state in the form of earmarks), while literally in the same sentence promising to prevent government from cutting any spending in their district. And the people at that event saw nothing wrong with his contradictory speech.
