Obama doesn't always compromise...
When he and Congress do, they seem to be compromising away the interests of the middle and working class. But when the wealthy snap their fingers, Obama and the Democrats seem to be purists in their response, with compromise only becoming an issue when it touches on the well-being of the rest of us.

Quick action, essentially no compromise (wealthy get what they want):

bailout Wall Street

war

Quick action, but major compromise

stimulus (larded up with Republican suggested tax cuts)

slow action, compromise to the point of nearly defeating the purpose of action:

health care reform

1. You can add war funding to that "quick" list
Many parts of the Government budget still haven't been passed, but Defense sure was, and at full requested levels.

2. Do those beneficiaries of compromise walk precincts for Democrats? Do they phone bank?
Do they register voters? Do they travel to swing states or take an unpaid day off from workto GOTV? Who the hell is the Democrats' base?
