Culver: Campaign manager departure “much to do about nothing.”
The departure of Gov. Chet Culver’s campaign manager is a minor blip, the governor told reporters today.

Culver, a Democrat preparing to seek re-election next year, said Andrew Roos’ announcement Tuesday that he was leaving the campaign after less than three months was normal.

“Look, it’s very common, whether public sector or private sector, campaigns, to have a change in personnel. This is much to do about nothing,” Culver said after addressing the Iowa Farm Bureau annual conference in Des Moines.

“We have a great team,” he said. “Teresa Vilmain is one of the best, most respected political advisers in the nation. She is on the team. We’ve got five or six other people that are just doing great work. So there will be no noticeable difference.”

Vilmain, a Cedar Falls native, is the Culver campaign’s general consultant, in charge of key aspects of the campaign organization, including hiring key staff. She is a former top aide to Gov. Tom Vilsack, Sen. Tom Harkin and was Hillary Clinton’s
