1. Make it shorter. List Democrats no one disapproves of. Here's a hint...
Only dead Democrats will make that list.

4. That'd pretty much narrow it down to Adlai Stevenson
(Then again, some folks probably don't like him).

What about his nephew McLean Stevenson? He was great on M*A*S*H*.

and hesitation on civil rights.

Truman would have been universally reviled for the bomb and Korea.

Kennedy would have been hated for reluctance on civil rights, the Bay of Pigs, and his many affairs.

Johnson would have been torn apart by everyone for Vietnam, Great Society be damned.

Carter...well, we see that here anyway.

Clinton...see Carter.

Obama's just getting his due.

As for famous Senators, I can't think of a single one who was pure enough.

33. You're probably right, but I didn't say all dead Democrats.
I just said those on the list would all be dead.

Look up Ralph Yarborough, Senator from Texas. Opposed the Viet Nam war, voted with LBJ on Civil Rights and the Great Society (actually came up with the phrase, and LBJ stole it from him)... he was on the right side of everything. (And I worked for him, so you'll forgive the hero worship).

3. I have a plan for you that I think will work
Before you immediately post something on DU, write it out on paper. If you think it is stupid, don't post. If you are unsure, ask someone around you. If you are still conflicted about whether it is stupid or not, it is probably safer not to post.

That may not extend to general disapproval of the person.

However, I thought all of the individuals you mention were smarter than that. Perhaps they all have a bit of a desire for attention seeking?

47. I can disagree with those people occasionally and still like them
I agree with them a lot naturally, but I refuse to follow -or reject- someone as a knee jerk reaction to their feelings on a particular issue (unless those feelings depart on a pretty rudimentary moral level).

I am a Democrat, I can forgive people for feeling a bit differently -or even very differently from me.
I know that every single person here speaking out against the new Af/Pak policy is doing so for all the right reasons.
(though I wouldn't be surprised if there were a couple of turdy trolls trying to stir shit on both sides of the issue).

53. Here's a clue.
I disagree with my friends and family sometime. But I still love them.

When people disagree with people they like, it doesn't mean they hate them. It means they disagree with them. Some of us a emotionally stable enough to handle that.

For the record, I have never liked Kucinich even though he says some things I agree with. Olbermann, Schultz and Moore are media people and I think only one of them is a Democrat. I mostly agree with them and sometimes I don't. Olbermann is not registered and doesn't vote. Ed was a Republican and is now a Democrat. I believe Moore is not party affiliated. They are better media personalities than most, but I don't always agree with them. I think their hearts are in the right place though and I respect them for that even when I don't agree with them.

Jon Stewart is a comedienne. Although sometimes he makes some serious political statements I whole-heartedly agree with, most of the time he's going for a laugh and says so. I can tell the difference. Sometimes his jokes fall flat and sometime they are funny. I don't make it a habit of hating comediennes because one of their jokes sucked.
