"... By mid-2010, Obama will have more than doubled the number of American troops in Afghanistan since he became president; he will have empowered his general, Stanley McChrystal, to fight the war pretty much as he thinks necessary to in order to win; and he will have retroactively, as it were, acknowledged that he and his party were wrong about the Iraq surge in 2007 -- after all, the rationale for this surge is identical to Bush’s, and the hope is for a similar success. He will also have embraced the use of military force as a key instrument of national power." ... http://voices.washingtonpost.com/postpartisan/2009/12/obamas_afghanistan_speech.html

Palin, Steele, McCain, Lieberman, Rove, and Kristol. At some point I think I'll just start saying the GOP, RNC, and Fox.

3. The fact that these warmongering douchebags are happy
about the escalation should be sending up some major red flags in Obama's mind.

Last time I checked, wasn't Karl Rove the presidential advisor to George W. Bu$h, not Barack Obama?

The corrupt sure are loving it...

2. The plan is not to win.
The plan is to end the stalemate and bring a little order to the country. It was a change in strategy that worked in Iraq and hopefully will work in Afghanistan.

13. Exactly. And all of the people mentioned above aren't going to like that.
They think escalation means escalation of the war. They just don't get that it's something else entirely. Obama is going to do the old bait and switch, and they'll be pissing and moaning about it soon enough.

he looked like a hit man.

15. Aaaaah, never saw it. But that name reminds me of General Zod from Superman 2. His presidential
campaign didn't get far in 08 though.

6. Of course Obama is a "war president"
whoever was sworn in on 1/20/09 would be.

Dennis Kucinich himself would have been a "war president" on that day.

The last sentence up there is totally wrong. It's as if Obama started the war. No, George W. Bush did that, and we have to disentangle ourselves from a web spun for 8 years.

Obama's a war president and war is why we can have peace. Whether it's Al-Queda or a corporation the Government was formed to serve and protect the people. That mean's to serve and protect from the very same people that was in office the last 8 years as well. Now it's said Afghanistan's government is corrupt . Why not right?
