Who are the "professional left" and the "professional right?" |
|
They are the ideological institutions of the Culture Wars. The Cato Institutes and the Centers for American Progress. The Arianna Huffingtons and the Matt Taibbis - the very people who provided us with guidance when the chips were down, when Bush was destroying the country (NO hyperbole), and when liberalism was the Great Satan along with the Axis of Evil.
And now a new generation of Democrats are in office. These are people who grew up knowing nothing BUT the Culture Wars, and are quite disgusted with the ongoing battle of righteousness. They see crumbling roads, failing schools, two wars, and an inherently dysfunctional political culture and are deep down thinking "Shut up! Shut up! Shut UP!" How will a staunch liberal ideology fix these problems? A staunch conservative ideology? How do you transfer totalistic thinking into material action? The White House is fed up with those who make money or a career by propagating this bullshit. The professional left and right refuses to give solutions, only earfuls.
And that's the crux of all of this - a new generation of politics conflicting with the old, longstanding institutions so committed to stirring up the emotions of the believers to fight against the non-believers on the other side.
The question shouldn't be "What ideology is 'winning'?" The question should be WHAT IS YOUR SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEMS WE FACE?

2. All this has done is shine a bit of light on how stupid it is |
|
to believe anybody is the 'good guys'.
It's about power, it always been, it always will be.
The ideas politicians pretend they stand for are simply tools to make you think you believe in somebody honorable and that you are more than just the stupid little groupie you actually are.

“The reason why I believe I’ve had this very fortunate success in reaching a wider audience than anyone on the left gets to reach is because I actually put the entertainment and the art before the politics,” Moore said. “It’s very hard for someone on the professional left to put anything ahead of the politics, and that’s why they lose out.

6. Come up with a good, workable, Democratic solution to a problem we face, and ... |
|
get labeled as part of the "professional left."
