The assumption that people on the left all think like people on DU is perposterous |
|
DU is not in the political mainstream. Not saying DU is wrong, just more liberal than the average liberal

1. DU is liberal? Why would you say that? |
|
seems to me the board has a lot more Blue Dogs and DLC types than liberals.

3. DU has fractions like every board but most of us are not DLC or bluedog. |
|
Most are to the left of those groups. Moderate left and very left are not the same as conservadems. Do most of us dislike Ben Nelson here? Max Baucus? I rest my case.

7. I'm not sure what that means? |
|
What resources? Money? Does that mean that the right to complain goes only to the highest bidder and those who can afford to pay enough?
What resources? Votes and campaign support? I'd say most of us all put in a lot of time, effort, and energy into get out the vote efforts the past two elections and I'd say people are pretty justified in saying there's not a whole lot to show for it other than congressional majorities that have fallen short at every turn and riddled with compromise from the get go.
What other resources? Primary candidates to the elected dems who are working with the republicans to stymie a more progressive agenda? Why only to have the dem leadership and Obama support and campaign for the more conservative incumbent?

6. Perky, I would have agreed with that |

until a month or so ago. We did petitioning for candidates and our committee and I was really taken back at how many people are saying just the same stuff about what is going on. I am not in a real blue area either. It has more to do with doing things that directly affect people than it does with being liberal, or DLC. or GOP or anything else. What the so called left wants is really a populist type agenda, not corporate. This is what not just people here but people 'out there' are picking up on. They still feel left out of the legislating. Until this I thought the right was way too looney to come close to winning back Congress but there is a lot of anger out there at the Dems for messing up a big chance.
Just reporting from the field.
