Serious question - what is the end game? |
|
For full disclosure, I am not disappointed with Obama. He has done a few things to piss me off and not taken on some issues that I feel should have been top priority but overall I am satisfied.
That being said, I would have had different expectations two years and two months ago, before the financial shakedown occurred, but have tempered expectations based upon that event.
So if not continuing down the path that has been followed for the last seventeen months what then? Again serious question and expect serious answers based upon reality not based upon a perfect world.
Some examples of reality; media controlled by corporate interests making change difficult, (reference HC debate where limited or no media attention given to factually investigating Death Panels, why does Canadian HC suck, why don't Canadians say it sucks, why every verifiable cost benefit analysis rates US so poorly, why U.S. residents subsidize Big Pharma) U.S. public more interested in Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, American Idol, Lindsey Lohan, with extremely short term goals and attention spans.

1. I ask that question everyday...... |
|
and I have yet to come up with an answer. I find HCR to be the biggest disappointment, yet we all know that this, nor even the next Democrat to hold the White House will not touch this issue and fix the loopholes. They've chalked it up as a "victory" and moved on. Obama backed down on his promise to close gitmo within one year of taking office. We are quickly approaching two years, and still no forward progress. He extended parts of the unPATRIOT ACT just before their sunset clause was to take effect, even though he campaigned against those same clauses.
Personally, the end game for Obama is to try and garnish enough of the right leaning independent vote for a second term.

2. It all depends on the economy. |
|
And that all depends on Wall Street.
Washington is more of a reflection of reality than a creator of it. The economy is engineered and micromanaged by the one-percenters who control private industry. They'll turn the faucet back on to the extent that Washington will let them write the law for us.
As long as they're getting their bonuses, they can ride this out for however long it takes.
