I'm pissed about socialised medicare in Australia and here's why
Edited on Thu Aug-12-10 02:04 AM by Swagman

2 full knee replacements in 5 years, a very difficult sinus operation, a cancerous lump cut from my leg.

Rotten bastards made me pay my own taxi fares to and from the hospitals. They forced me to choose a surgeon of my own choice. They even forced me to go out and find a GP of my choice for general health care who bulk bills the government for treatment but do you think the swines will refund by bus fares?. No f**king way.

They even have the cheek to make me pay nearly $6 for necessary drugs that I could easily get over the internet from the USA for about $90.

OK, I paid nothing for the operations or the new knee joints and the crutches but I fork over $14 a month in medicare tax.

No wonder Americans are shit scared. :sarcasm:

1. Sounds downright mean to treat a jolly swagman in such a manner.

Imagine not paying your bus fares. That takes gall and to top it off gouging you $14 a month. Does oppresion never end in a system brought about by the thieving hands of do-nothing socialists? If you have a moment, swagman, that is when you can steal a moment for yourself from your slave-driving communist masters, may I suggest that you set yourself down by a billabong under the shade of a coolabah tree as I hear its highly restorative. It may give you the strength you'll need to fight the unfeeling bureaucracy of big gov. All my best.

p.s. I feel your pain as I am in Canuckistan. Need I say more.

2. Terrible
You see how lousy medicine is in other countries. They have told us over and over again, it is IMPOSSIBLE for everyone to have access to care. Impossible I say!

Why I have even heard people here, Democrats, tell me that it is impossible, and you know they can't be wrong.

5. Here's how you can make those bus fares back.
Assemble packets with up-to-date information on immigration to Australia, including all necessary forms, and sell them online to Americans.

You work it right, you could take a limo to your next appointment.

10. I was playing a video game with an Aussie friend...
Several months ago and the conversation came up about health care.

A couple of people in our group started bitching about "Obama Care".

Nick (the Aussie) chimed in and explained that they have both socialized and private health insurance in Australia.

One of the guys who was bitching says, "see, we need to have real choice..."

At what point Nick said, not really knowing the debate that was going on or what , "No one in their right mind chooses the private system.. you go to the government run clinics because those are the people who REALLY CARE ABOUT MAKING YOU BETTER, instead of just stealing your money"

That shut the "Obama care" people up REAL QUICK!
